The Young Athlete Program (YAP) is an innovative sports play program that serves as an introduction to sports for children ages 2-7 with and without disabilities. The program will provide an experience that will lead to an appreciation of fitness and sport for the whole family. The focus is for children with special needs to be allowed an opportunity to learn new skills alongside their non-disabled peers (i.e., Unified Partner)
Murray/Calloway Co is starting our 6th year of YAP as a service for our families with children with special needs. If you have a child with a disability, OR child who would like to take part as a Unified Partner please complete the registration below. The first session will take place on Feb 10. The program will take place each Saturday until March 10. Sessions will be held at Murray Elementary from 10am-11am.
Activities will include games that involve jumping, running, kicking, throwing and other gross motor skills needed for sports and play. Each session will be led by MSU students.
